Good afternoon, IW team. We’ve been busy bees this April preparing for the May Day strike. There are so many ways to participate, and we hope to see you putting your money where your mouth is at least.

Why We Need to Start Calling Tr*mp’s Concentration Camps What They Are

Listen to this interview with an author who has done an exhaustive historical analysis of concentration camps and describes their characteristics and why the immigrant detention facilities in the US likely fit within that definition.

Continue to Oppose All Colorado Detention Facilities

Actions being taken to protect our immigrants include:

  • Protests are being held this morning at the Denver (Centennial) ICE Hold Room, the Alamosa Hold Room, at the Frederick Hold Room, in Glenwood Springs, in Colorado Springs and in Pueblo.

  • Testimony at the Centennial City Council is scheduled for May 5 at 7:00.   Please spread the word among Centennial friends and family

  • Contact Senator Hickenlooper and Senator Bennet (and your US House member) to ask them to conduct thorough oversight, to demand ICE classify these as detention facilities, to demand ICE follow their own policies, to demand an IG investigate them. We must raise the level of alarm about these facilities. If your Senator or House rep has not released a statement denouncing them, please ask them to do so. Here is an example of the one recently released by Rep Pettersen

  • Write Letters to the Editor. One idea is to submit the letter from the Interfaith Immigration Network to your local paper. Go to City Council meetings and ask them to take a firm stand that ICE is not welcome. Ask them about any zoning questions you have.

  • Work with local faith communities to hold vigils, press conferences and write letters in opposition.

  • Pressure property owners to terminate their leases.

  • Contact the building, fire and safety inspectors in the jurisdictions that contain these ICE hold rooms. There is good reason to suspect they are not being operated in accordance with codes and there are ongoing safety violations.

  • On April 28, there will be a special public hearing at the Glenwood Springs Planning and Zoning Board to discuss whether or not the Special Use Permit should be revoked.

Join Us at the Bolder Boulder - Monday, 5/25

Don’t let the 6.5 miles scare you, as I bet on a regular basis many of your put in those miles chasing kiddos, walking your dog, grocery shop, shopping, and more.  Here is a chance to do with a community of new and established friends.  It’s great for our mental health, lifts your spirits and will make sure you sleep well at the end of the day.  You don’t need to be an Indivisible member to join this event, as it’s all about community, health and wellness.

How to join us:

  1. First, register using this link: https://www.bolderboulder.com/

  2. After you complete your registration a final page will pop us for groups.  Enter “Indivisible”

  3. Email me at team@indivisiblewestminster.org and I’ll make sure you know when and I’ll provide you with a location to meet up for walking.

  4. Then pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

More details:

  • We’ll be having a t-shirt night to design our t-shirt with “Unpaid Protester #1", #2, etc.

  • Most likely, we’ll be using the special Bolder Boulder bus for transportation that day.

ABOUT US >

We are a Colorado volunteer organization formed in 2025 in Westminster and the surrounding areas, under the Indivisible banner.

We have come together as a local group stricken by this administration’s actions and promises, as well as by the  decades of strategic planning that have allowed for it.

We operate under the assumption that we can direct meaningful change, regardless of how small.
