Great work, everyone, on a fantastic No Kings Day showing! We had another successful march around Olde Town Arvada, followed by a second action with our friends at Sheridan and 92nd. Protesting is key to resistance and often a gateway to further activism. I like to think of protests like concerts: you’re all yelling the same thing and vibing together, way louder and more impactful than when you’re alone in your house.

Post No Kings Day 3, Indivisible Westminster has so many different ways for you to engage in opposition against 47, billionaires, and the filthy lot. If you’re looking for a place to further your resistance reach, you can join us Thursdays on our Discord (link at the bottom of the newsletter). If not there, we have friends everywhere. ;)

News in Focus

With "News in Focus", we hope to provide context to our daily lives with some related action items where possible.

Local

With our snowpack low, near 50% of normal, Denver Water implemented Stage 1 water restrictions. Residents are limited to watering their lawns 2x per week, on certain days based on their location. Link to article from The Denver Post.

  • Action Ideas: Talk to your friends about causes of climate change, and brainstorm ways to limit water usage, like reducing AI use and moving away from grass lawns.

Regional

The largest wildfire in Nebraskan history was finally fully contained last week, although two other wildfires sprung up over the weekend. Link to article.

  • Action Ideas: besides the actions listed above, you can donate to several groups aiding in relief related to the fire.

International

With the senseless "war" against Iran, chain reactions will cause not only gas prices to skyrocket, but also food and shipping. 20% of the world’s oil is shipped through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran controls and shut down in response to US-Israel violence. Link to article.

  • Action Ideas: Look into growing your own vegetables. Call your representatives and tell them to end yet another illegal war started by this regime.

Building Resilient Resistance

Tr*mp and his cronies are spamming us with disaster and distraction, in hopes of keeping us aimless, tired, and ineffective at fighting back. US activist and educator Daniel Hunter suggests implementing a framework to organize against this method. This framework allows organizations to go on the “offensive”, rather than reacting from the “defensive”. He has found these strategies build stronger organizations and more resilient activists.

Below are 7 principles to follow to improve resiliency during a marathon of opposition:

  1. Make a conscious decision about where you get your news from, and what to do after consuming news. Choose sources that are informative and don’t stoke fear. Make a plan to walk it off, dance, or talk to a friend afterwards.

  2. Get together with some people face-to-face to support each other. Join IW each week on Thursday - we are always moving and grooving!

  3. Pray, meditate, or reflect on those you know who are impacted by oppressive policies, and extend love to those who may be suffering. Rooting our activism in compassion and love will carry us forward, and allowing time to grieve and be angry is helpful.

  4. Read, listen to, or share a story about how others have resisted justice. Be inspired by others to keep moving forward.

  5. Practice creativity. Oppression aims to make one feel passive and hopeless; create something to remind yourself and others that you too can make something beautiful or impactful.

  6. Take a conscious break from social media. Maintain a healthy boundary with this tool, and keep in mind that social media can be distracting, exhausting, and isolating especially as many tech companies have aligned with 47.

  7. Commit to sharing with others what has helped you. We are in this together!

Immigration Corner

Esquina de Immigracion

What happens to people after they are deported? The American Friends Service Committee and various partners released a new report that documents the experience of people who have been deported and forced to return to their home countries or trapped in third countries. This report illustrates how detention and deportation destroys lives, families and stability.

Trump’s racist hate speech and migration crackdowns violate human rights, according to the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

The American Immigration Lawyers Association recently published a policy brief on ways to modernize America’s asylum system. It has a very good description of the history of asylum seeking in the US, the issues with totally shutting down asylum access at the southern border and a list of recommendations, such as delegate more responsibility to USCIS asylum officers to decide asylum cases, expand legal pathways to reduce border pressure, re-establish orderly asylum processing at the border and to guarantee legal representation for asylum seekers.

Other callouts:

  • The American Immigration Council recently prepared a fact sheet about Temporary Protected Status.

  • Some encouraging news, Florida sheriffs and police chiefs are rebelling against Trump’s deportation efforts.

  • ICE has deported thousands of children. The experience has traumatized them and their families.

  • In June 2025, Homeland Security agent Sarah Vasquez sent an email to a Glenwood Springs Police officer alerting him to a Facebook post by Mountain Action Indivisible describing an upcoming protest. Mountain Action Indivisible is now calling on the Glenwood Springs City Council to establish a clear written policy prohibiting city staff from facilitating federal surveillance of community members exercising their first amendment rights.

  • In Durango, Compañeros is warning of increased immigration enforcement.

  • In Social Circle, GA, city officials asked ICE what their plans are for a new warehouse facility they purchased. City officials were concerned they didn’t have the capacity to supply and treat water from the new facility. ICE ignored their requests so the city responded by cutting off access to water and sewer.

  • ICE operates a network of 170 hold rooms across the US , 9 in Colorado. These hold rooms were used by more than 140,000 detainees between January and October of last year. These are being used in violation of ICE’s own rules. The ones in Colorado are described here: “hold rooms” . We were previously made aware of the one in Durango but there are more than that. We knew the one in Denver is not where ICE had it in their reports, so they very recently admitted there is a hold room at the field office in Centennial.

ABOUT US >

We are a Colorado volunteer organization formed in 2025 in Westminster and the surrounding areas, under the Indivisible banner.

We have come together as a local group stricken by this administration’s actions and promises, as well as by the  decades of strategic planning that have allowed for it.

We operate under the assumption that we can direct meaningful change, regardless of how small.
