Spring is here already!? Welp, might as well use the good weather to ~spring~ into action! In this newsletter, you’ll meet one of our action teams and find out ways to prepare for the No Kings 3 protest on 3/28.

Spotlight on IWM’s Protest Team

Indivisible Westminster (IWM) is made up of Action Teams, each with its own unique focus. With No Kings 3 coming up on Saturday, 3/28, we’d like to introduce the Protest Team, who is coordinating and preparing for the biggest protest we’ve seen yet.

Murph and his wife began protesting in Denver in early 2025. Murph began noticing the Safety Marshals at the protests, with their neon vests and protective diligence. Wanting to do more, he became interested in joining the ranks of those who make protests peaceful, safe, and effective. He teamed up with Wayne, another IWM team member, and they began coordinating to support the Arvada ongoing protest, around the first No Kings protest in June 2025. Unbeknownst to them, their early work established the groundwork for what we call our Protest Team.

"Our jobs as safety marshalls in to ensure that everyone stays safe and to make sure counter protesters do not escalate”, Murph said. "The best part about protesting is meeting everyone who just want a safe space to voice their opposition to the fascist criminal regime."

Their approach is to leverage the many smaller weekly protests to build up the larger protests, like No Kings.

"With the large No Kings 3 protest and rally right around the corner, we have been busy getting new safety marshals some protest time,” Murph stated, "so they are ready to assist with actions that will get into crowd sizes in the thousands."

We encourage everyone to watch the NoKings.org training videos (recordings and upcoming live options available). Even if you don’t plan on being a safety marshal, having basic safety knowledge and skills can make a huge difference - for not only you, but for the whole rally. There are good non-violent core principles that everyone should take into consideration.

Everyone be safe and see you in two weeks!

Mental Health Support

Looking for something new to boost your mental health? Try these suggestions because you are important to us:

  • Exercise - get in at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.  Walk the mall, hope on a walking path, dust off the bike and feel the wind against your face.

  • Diet - stay hydrated, eat a well balanced diet and reduce your caffeine intake.

  • Sleep - listen to your body and setup your bedroom with an idea environment for a good nights rest.  Remove the light distractions & keep it cool.

  • Priorities - I’m a list person to keep me on track.  Don’t beat yourself up if you need a “me day” and do another day.  Or consider breaking up your to-do list into a couple days.

  • Positivity - a journal can help you recall the positive events of the day.  Stay positive and reflect positivity in your day as best you can.

  • Friends & family - keep the relationships open with people who you know care about you and can get support.

Federal and State Updates

The American Prospect had a great article on Feb 21 about the case for keeping ICE and CBP defunded. We have an opportunity now to strip these mini-Gestapo agencies of their funding to prevent them from becoming the actual Gestapo.

In Colorado, we received great press for how our faith communities are showing up to support our immigrant communities.

Cases the DOJ brings against protesters keep collapsing as DHS officers’ lies are exposed in court. That is good news for all of us who protest.

Since the lies about immigrants continue to flourish, here is a good quick reminder: It is perfectly legal to request asylum. Asking for asylum is not a “free ticket” into the US.

Undocumented people have far lower crime rates than US citizens. Undocumented people pay taxes and help prop up Social Security by paying into the system without receiving benefits. Virtually no fentanyl has been seized from people seeking asylum. People with pending immigration cases show up to the court hearings. And more.

Here is a sad story about the horrors observed by Rumeysa Ozturk while she was in immigrant detention and how it is especially not a place for a child.

The Supreme Court ruled against GEO Group in an old case at the GEO Detention Center in Aurora.

Here is a new video in 12 languages about “How to Prepare for Possible ICE Detention or Arrest.” We will store this in our resources section.

ABOUT US >

We are a Colorado volunteer organization formed in 2025 in Westminster and the surrounding areas, under the Indivisible banner.

We have come together as a local group stricken by this administration’s actions and promises, as well as by the  decades of strategic planning that have allowed for it.

We operate under the assumption that we can direct meaningful change, regardless of how small.
