“Fun Fact” on MLK Day
Did you know? Project 2025 specifically calls out UNDOING MLK’s work against racism. They do this in the same paragraph that they state their goal of closing the Department of Education.
Excerpt from Project 2025: "Short of this, the Secretary of Education should insist that the department serve parents and American ideals, not advocates whose message is that children can choose their own sex, that America is “systemically racist,” that math itself is racist, and that Martin Luther King, Jr.’s ideal of a colorblind society should be rejected in favor of reinstating a color-conscious society. The next head of this department will have a lot to do—hopefully culminating in the department’s closure and the salutary restoration of educational control to states, localities, and parents."
We know they have made strides to close the Department of Education, and white supremacy is emboldened. Today and every day, we stand with MLK and the Kings to demand education, liberty, and justice for all. |

Consider Organizing Neighborhood Specific Volunteer Groups
A Latino group in North Carolina called Siembra organized volunteers into neighborhood specific ICE watch groups. These groups responded to the massive ICE raids in Charlotte and Raleigh. The groups were given maps and walked around immigrant majority neighborhoods and immigrant majority business areas. They were trained in how to be ICE confirmers and were connected in a Signal chat. If they saw an ICE raid in progress, these volunteers documented what was happening but also worked to diffuse and de-escalate the situation: by singing or praying. They chose this approach of bringing peace and calm, rather than an approach of being confrontational and strident which is the approach used in Chicago and other places. They reported into a central dispatcher. This is another way of organizing a group of volunteers to be community defenders. |

Politics at Play |
Are we voting already? 2026 will be an arduous journey through a complex and important election year in Colorado. Voting means more than filling out ballots, in the primaries in June or general elections in November. We need to learn the seats that are up for election and the candidates that are vying for them. We can also help candidates to get on the primary ballot.
First, a quick recap on the election agenda for 2026. Statewide the following seats are up for election: one US Senator (Hickenlooper’s current seat), the governor, the Attorney General, the Secretary of State, and the State Treasurer.
Also, since this is a midterm election year, all US House Representatives in the country are up for reelection, including Colorado’s 8 representatives. Additionally, all of Colorado State’s House seats will be on the ballot.
There is a reason 47 is so keen to cancel elections, because there is a lot to gain this year if we put our minds to it.
The Primary Ballot: The First Battle The Democratic Primary Election will be held on June 30th, 2026. The primary elections decide which candidates advance to the general elections, so it is key we have candidates on the ballot that are solid, dependable, and winners.
To get on the Primary Ballot, candidates have two possible paths they can follow:
Curious about Caucuses?
In 2026, all voting precinct caucuses will be held between March 3rd and 7th. Some will be online and some will be in person. The dates and places are determined by each county political party. The County Caucuses will be held within one week of the precinct caucus and the State Assembly will be held in Pueblo on March 28th, where the candidates for the Democratic primary ballots will be elected. A candidate must receive 30% of the caucus votes to make the primary ballot.
Caucusing for your favorite candidate is the best way to help them get on the primary ballot. Delegates for the Democratic State Assembly, and local Precinct Leaders for your voting precinct, will also be selected at the caucuses. If you are interested in supporting a particular candidate for any office, call your county party and ask for information on when and how to attend a caucus. You can also call the campaign headquarters of the candidate of your choice and ask them to guide you on how to caucus for them. CPR, AED, and First Aid Training
Below is the list for 2026 training with the City of Westminster. You never know when you’re may be confronted with a situation that might require these first aid skills. It could be at home, grocery store, protest, church, etc. so please considering signing up. Unfortunately, Arvada doesn’t offer these types of training. Colorado Rapid Response Network (CORRN) Confirmer Training
February 28, 2026, 2-4:00 pm, Arvada. To register for this training please reach out to team@indivisiblewestminster.org to get added to this free class. This training is valuable whether to want to help document immigration incidents for an actual ICE event or if you’re a witness to an ICE event. In light of the ICE shootings, I highly advise everyone to consider signing up because at any time you could be in the middle of a critical situation. This training will add value and recommended suggestions to stay safe. We will confirm the details and location of the training as we get closer to the date.
